Hello, my name is Lisa Ornelas and I am the proud principal of Conley Elementary. As I begin my second year as principal here in Taft, California, I am filled with excitement and anticipation for the wonderful year ahead. Nestled in the foothills on the southwest edge of the San Joaquin Valley in Kern County, our community is a special place, and I am honored to be a part of it.
Conley School serves approximately 310 students from transitional kindergarten to third grade. Our campus also has a PreSchool Special Day class. My goal as principal is to welcome and meet each of you, to build positive relationships, and to help our students grow both academically and socially-emotionally.
We have several exciting developments this year. I am thrilled to announce that we will be offering PIQE classes for parents, and we are welcoming a full-time Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA) and a counselor who will split her time between Conley and another school site. These additions will provide our students with even more support and resources.
I invite all parents to take advantage of the many opportunities to get involved in our school community. You can volunteer in classrooms, join our School Site Council, participate in our English Language Advisory Committee, or become a member of our Parent Teacher Organization. Your involvement is crucial to our success and greatly appreciated.
Additionally, our after-school ASES program and Migrant classes will continue to support students with their reading goals and provide enriching activities. These programs are an excellent opportunity for our students to receive extra help and explore new interests.
Together, we can create a nurturing and supportive environment where every child can thrive. I look forward to working with our dedicated staff, supportive parents, and active community to make this school year a success.
Warm regards,
Lisa Ornelas
